The National Research Foundation (NRF) supports and promotes research and human capital development through funding, the provision of National Research Facilities and science outreach platforms and programmes to the broader community in all fields of science and technology, including natural science, engineering, social science and humanities.
iThemba Laboratory for accelerator based sciences is a group of multidisciplinary research laboratories administered by the NRF. Based at two sites in the Western Cape and Gauteng, these facilities provide for:
– Basic and applied research using particle beams
– Particle radiotherapy for the treatment of cancer
– The supply of accelerator-produced radionuclides for medical and industrial applications
Requirements: Applicants must be on their second year level of study and must have attained a minimum of 60% pass in their first year.

Topic: Denel Overberg Test Range External Bursaries 2016
Denel Overberg Test Range, a division of the South African industrial group Denel, is a multipurpose test facility near the southernmost tip of Africa, that awarded several bursaries to Engineering students in 2015.
We are currently in the process of reviewing the 2016 bursary applications, and would hereby like to extend an invitation to the University to identify suitable candidates to be considered for our bursary program.

A few MTN Mobile Intelligence Lab bursaries are available for hard working students with a demonstrable competence in the specific areas:
1. Non-invasive water flow measurement using multi-sensor approach. You will have good signal processing, mathematical modelling, and software development skills.
2. Embedded software development for electrical water heater controller. You will have excellent software skills and preferably good understanding of electronics.
3. Hardware controller for electricial water heater controller. You will have excellent electronic hardware development skills.
